When Espaço JB opened in the two-story house formerly occupied by the Jardim Botânico branch of Espelunca Chic, Rio de Janeiro gained a fine place for live music.
The casual bar, which serves draft beer, caipirinhas and appetizers, has a roda de samba (samba get-together) on Sunday, which is also a feijoada and soccer watching day. There are more soccer games on the big screen on Wednesday night.
On Tuesday night, there's always a live band; Thursday is jazz night and on Friday, there's sertanejo (Brazilian country music) and house and electro.
Hours:
Tue and Wed 5 p.m. to midnight; Thur 5 p.m. to 3 a.m., Fri and Sat 5 p.m. to 5 a.m., Sun 2 p.m. to midnight.
