At the first minute of October 19, 2008, Brazil clocks will be set ahead one hour in the South, Southeast and Central West regions.

The time difference between the US and Brazil is smallest during the US summer, when the US is in Daylight Saving Time and Brazil is not. As of this writing on October 8, it's 7:30p in New York City and 8:30p in Rio de Janeiro.

When US clocks "fall back" in the Northern Hemisphere fall, the time difference between New York City and Rio de Janeiro will be three hours.

In years when the third Sunday in February happens to be Carnival Sunday, clocks will only be set back on the following Sunday.
