Walk on down Rua Padre Toledo and on your right, you will see Museu Padre Toledo. Priest Toledo was one of several members of the clergy who supported the Inconfidência Mineira, the rebellion against Portugal led by Joaquim José da Silva Xavier, or Tiradentes. Pro-revolution gatherings took place at this property.
The mid-eighteenth century construction with fourteen rooms features several painted ceilings in rococo motifs and a valuable furniture collection, besides artifacts and paintings. A great part of the collection belongs to the Museu da Inconfidência, in Ouro Preto, the city where the rebellion was fully plotted and betrayed.
To make this a quick tour, go back to the starting point the same way you came. If you choose to take a right on the corner of Rua da Câmara and Rua Direita, you will need to allow plenty of time for shop browsing and sightseeing.
