The frontispiece of Igreja de Santo Antônio was built between 1810 and 1816, based on a design by Antônio Francisco Lisboa (1730 – 1814), known as Aleijadinho. A hewn-stone cross stands out amidst a balanced set of rococo elements.
The whole church front is built of rammed earth, bricks and mortar.
