La Vie en Douce

By Patricia Ribeiro, About.com

La Vie en Douce Overview:

At La Vie en Douce, chef Carole Crema creates bonbons, chocolate bars, brigadeiros.

But the star at this pleasant sweet shop, a favorite for coffee and a mid-afternoon treat in Jardim Paulista, is perhaps the chef's line of vintage sweets.

Carole Crema is renowned for keeping alive the sweet gems that graced Brazil's bountiful wedding and birthday parties of yesteryear. Her vintage sweets - cajuzinhos, made from ground peanuts; bom-bocados, delicately flavored coconut cupcakes; papos de anjo, made from egg yolks, and more - are the same which have awed generations of Brazilians, here made by a Mossiman's graduate.

Easter at La Vie en Douce:

The all-chocolate Brazilian Easter egg has a famous versions in the La Vie en Douce brigadeiro egg.

Soft brigadeiro you can eat with a spoon, covered with chocolate sprinkles, fills the chocolate shell in this Carole Crema specialty (see photo).

Christmas at La Vie en Douce:

La Vie en Douce shines at Christmas time with special sweets in fun packaging. Some of the 2008 holiday attractions are the chocotone (chocolate panettone) and the alfajor panetttone, wrapped in an eco-friendly bag, and chocolate-covered fortune cookies.
