Nugali Chocolates is one of the few brands in Brazil to make all the chocolate that is used in the company's many products, including bonbons, bars and Easter eggs. Many chocolate makers in Brazil melt imported chocolate instead.
Founded and owned by chocolatière Maitê Lang in 2004, Nugali is based in Pomerode, a charming town with a strong German heritage in the southern state of Santa Catarina.
One of Nugali's best known products is the Serra do Conduru, with 80% cocoa. The chocolate is made from cocoa beans grown exclusively at Fazenda São Pedro, at the foot of the Conduru range in Bahia.
Pure and selected cocoa beans and cocoa butter - no hydrogenated fat or other oils are used in Nugali chocolates - as well as pure vanilla extract and great care in manufacturing result in this outstanding treat and souvenir.
You can buy Nugali chocolate at the company store in Pomerode or in several other places in Brazil (see Where to Find).
