Timbalada, the legendary Salvador band created by Rocked by Trio Mr. Brown, which will celebrate its 12th anniversary in 2010, the bloco parades on the Barra-Ondina Circuit. Denny, the lead singer; nine percussionists; four brass players; two backing vocals; a keyboard player; and a guitar player keep up the pace as the crowd jumps and dances along the Salvador seaside. The bloco is a three-time winner of Troféu Bahia Folia. The support structure includes security, an emergency unit, a bar and portable toilets. Friday, Feb.12 on Circuito Barra-Ondina. Start at 2:30 p.m. Central do Carnaval is selling parade passes with abadás (parade outfits) for R$330 for each day. Timbalada, born in the Candeal district in Salvador, is one of Brazil's best-known success stories musically and in social impact.
