Sofitel Rio de Janeiro Copacabana offers an all-around luxury Rio de Janeiro experience at a magnificent location: the corner of Copacabana Beach closest to Arpoador and Ipanema.
With its fine suites and amenities, starred restaurant, Women are Magnifique program, kids' activities, and up-to-date business center, the hotel caters to a wide range of quests.
Some of the highlights of the hotel décor are works of art by renowned contemporary artists and 18th- and 19th- century furniture and chandeliers found in the lobby and other common areas.
The hotel offers beach service. The lobby has direct access to Shopping Cassino Atlântico, a mall with several arts and antiques shops.
All 338 apartments and suites have balconies; most of them offer views of Copacabana. In 2007, a major renovation with design by French architect Michel Gicquet introduced several upgrades. Marble counters, LCD screen TVs, DVD players, CD players, A/C, an electronic safe deposit box, mini refrigerators and hair dryers are some of the amenities found in the guest rooms.
Sofitel Club Millésime upgrades are available in nearly 70 guest rooms, all of which have views of Copacabana Beach. Sofitel's My Bed concept of a good night's sleep is present in many of the apartments. A pillow menu with six options includes a small pillow for kids.
Rooms adapted for wheelchair users include specially designed work desks.
Non-smoking guest rooms are available.
Dining and Nightlife:
Considered one of the best restaurants in all of Brazil, Le Pré Catelan serves an intriguing blend of French and Brazilian cuisine by award-winning chef Rolland Villard. The restaurant in bold contemporary design has tables overlooking Copacabana Beach.
The hotel also has the Atlantis restaurant by the pools - with a view of the Sugarloaf - serving breakfast, a regional food buffet and, on Saturday, feijoada.
Horse's Neck, the hotel bar, is decorated with an African theme and has a veranda overlooking Copacabana Beach. On Saturdays and sometimes on other days of the week as well, it has live music - bossa nova, Brazilian pop, samba rock, jazz (cover charge about $10; call 55-21-2525-1206 for the schedule).
Other Amenities and Services:
A fitness center, two saunas, and two pools (with morning sun or afternoon sun) are available. So are massage services (paid separately).
The hotel hosts two of the best parties in Rio: a New Year's Eve celebration and a Carnival masquerade.
Families with kids, including babies, will enjoy the kids' program with welcome kits, amenities provided upon request (from disposable changing tables to Wii) and a kids' menu at the Atlantis restaurant.
Women are Magnifique packages come with complimentary drinks and a range of pamper-me perks upon request (from straightening irons and yoga mats to a personal butler).
