Mocidade Alegre, one of the top samba schools in São Paulo Carnival, was the champion of the 2009 parade. The theme was the heart - "Da Chama da Razão ao Palco das Emoções... Sou Máquina, Sou Vida... Sou Coração Pulsando Forte na Avenida!!!" (From the Flame of Reason to the Stage of Emotions... I'm a Machine, I'm Life... I'm the Heart, Beating Fast on the Avenue!!!).
