July 2010 update
As of June 4, 2010 a new reciprocity fee is in effect for American citizens traveling to Brazil. That means Brazil has raised tourist visa application fees for those nationals in response to raises in visa application fees for Brazilian citizens by the US.
According to the Consulate General of Brazil in Washington, D.C., the tourist visa fee for American citizens is now $140 (the previous fee was $130), the highest fee for a Brazil visa.
Canadian passport holders, also subject to reciprocity fees, have been paying $65 for a Brazil tourist visa since Jan. 15, 2008.
The reciprocity policy may also apply top visa validity. As of this update, American citizens applying for tourist visas are eligible for visas valid for 10 years, in response to a change in US visa expiration dates.
To apply for a Brazil visa, first find out which Consulate jurisdiction your state belongs to on this list of Brazil Consulates in the US.
