Fazenda Santa Eufrásia Overview:

Fazenda Santa Eufrásia offers guests a glimpse of life on a Paraíba River Valley Coffee Cycle farm from the moment they arrive.

Visitors are received by owners and staff dressed in period costumes and taken on a tour of the property which had its origin in 1830.

The farm is listed by IPHAN, the Brazilian Institute for National Artistic and Historic Heritage.

With 22 rooms, the U-shaped farmhouse is undergoing renovations. E-mail and inquire about future overnight stays (contact below).

Attractions:

During a visit to Fazenda Santa Eufrásia, you can enjoy a group visit to the farmhouse (coffee and pastries served); tour the productive farm, where coffee and eucalyptus are grown; walk in the ancient orchard and go on a chariot ride.

Visits last about two hours and must be scheduled in advance. Groups must have at least 10 people. Individuals and small parties can join groups being formed - check with the farm.

How to Get to Fazenda Santa Eufrásia from Rio:

By car:

Take the Presidente Dutra highway (Rio-São Paulo). About 5 kilometers after the Viúva Graça toll, take RJ-127 to Paracambi.

Cross the city of Mendes and get back on RJ-127 to Vassouras. Take BR-393 and about 13 kilometers later, take the turn to Barra do Piraí.

About 1 kilometer past Restaurante Beira Chão, stay on the shoulder in front of Fazenda Santa Cecília while you wait for your chance to cross the road to the Fazenda Santa Eufrásia entrance.

By bus:

Easier. Normandy has buses to Vassouras from the Novo Rio Bus Terminal in Rio de Janeiro (a 2-hour trip). In Vassouras, take a taxi to the farm (5 miles).
