Bonsai at Brazil-Japan Cultural Week, Sao Paulo 2008Stefan Wilkerson

Bonsai show at Anhembi. Bonsai and ikebana are some of the cultural traits that became a part of Brazilian life thanks to Japanese immigrants. In São Paulo, one of the places where you can see bonsai and many other Japanese attractions is Liberdade, the Japanese district, at a small Japanese Garden or during the weekend Fair.

One of the newest Japanese gardens in Brazil, opened as part of the Japanese Immigration Centennial celebrations, is in Belo Horizonte, capital of Minas Gerais State.
