Plan ahead and check what you need to buy well in advance so you don't have to add pet travel shopping to your pre-travel rush. Your check list should include:
- Dog carrier or cat carrier
- Plastic locks
- Water dispenser
- Training pads to line the crate
- Toys
- Blanket
Set aside a place where you can pack all your pet's accoutrements, so you will know where to find everything on travel day.
Test the water dispenser. Try to get your pet used to the water dispenser, offering a drink from it when you know he tends to be thirsty - right after a meal or after a walk, for example.
Test the plastic locks. Let your pet play with the new toys and sleep on the new blanket so they are familiar objects on travel day.
