Copacabana beachfront hotels offer guests, among other perks, a front seat to the most spectacular New Year's Eve celebration in Brazil. This list follows the lineup of Copacabana beachfront hotels along Avenida Atlântica from Copacabana's border with Leme Beach to the Copacabana Fort and Arpoador, which divide Copacabana and Ipanema.
1. Windsor Atlântica

In May 2009, Windsor Hotels purchased the 38-story building formerly occupied by the Le Méridien hotel. The building had also belonged to Iberostar, but their contract was cancelled due to disagreements with the property administators.
With interiors by Rio de Janeiro-based designer Paola Ribeiro, the Windsor Atlântica has 545 guest rooms and the highest swimming pool among Copacabana beachfront hotels.

2. Hotel Atlântico Praia

Formerly the Dayrell Ouro Verde, the Hotel Atlântico opened in July 2010 as part of a chain with hotels in Búzios and in Copacabana itself - the also beachfront Astoria Palace (see below), the Astoria Palace, two blocks from the beach, and the Atlântico Copacabana, three blocks from the beach.
As of this July 2012 update, the Atlântico Praia is still not posted on the company'w website.

3. Lancaster Othon Travel

In the lower price range for Copacabana beachfront hotels, the Lancaster Othon Travel has 13 floors and 70 apartaments. Sharing one of the spacious rooms can help make your Copacabana stay more affordable, but the hotel could use some renovating.

8. Arena Copacabana Hotel

Opened in late 2009, the Arena Copacabana has 135 guest rooms with LCD screen TVs, A/C and desks. Some of the rooms face the ocean; others offer lateral views of the sea. Amenities include a terrace swimming pool overlooking the beach, a fitness center, a sauna and the Fennel restaurant with cuisine by chef Eduardo Sousa (formerly from Copacabana Palace) and sweets by chef pâtissier Simone Domingos.
