On the southeastern end of the Búzios peninsula, Brava and Forno are perfect beaches for travelers who seek a quieter atmosphere than that of the more central beaches. Separated by a hill, the beaches have very different kinds of waves.

Two- and Three-Star Hotels on Praia Brava

"Brava", a Portuguese word that can mean "angry", here means "rough". One of the best beaches in Búzios for surfing, Brava is quieter and less rough in the right corner, where a trail leads to Olho de Boi, one of Brazil's nude beaches. There are kiosks and restaurants serving seafood.

  • Pousada Brava Club
The pousada has 29 suites in four categories. Standard suites face the garden; all the other have sea views. The suites have A/C, a mini refrigerator, cable TV, a safe deposit box, a ceiling fan, wireless access and a hair dryer. There's a restaurant serving an international menu and a beach bar. Two pools (one for kids), a spa, a hot tub, beach umbrellas and chairs are other amenities.
  • Brava Hotel
The Brava Hotel has played up the advantages of not being on the sand through design that makes the most of surrounding rocks and the hilly property. The boutique décor strays from the beach look with sturdy upholstered chairs, dramatically placed drapes and chandeliers. The restaurant is very romantic at night. There's a pool, a sauna and a massage room.

Three-Star Hotels on Praia do Forno

A pristine horseshoe-shaped beach with clear, calm waters, Praia do Forno (Oven Beach) is a great choice for snorkelers and travelers looking for quiet and romance. The name of the beach is said to refer to the reddish hue of its sands or to the heat that radiates from its rocks.

  • Pousada Bucaneiro
White and bright colors are juxtaposed beautifully in this pousada which reopened in late 2007 after a complete renovation. Of the 20 suites, 14 have verandas facing the pool. All suites have queen size beds, a mini refrigerator, a safe deposit box and a 21-inch flat screen TV. There's a hot tub, a steam sauna, a barbecue grill, a bar and a pool table. You can rent a bicycle. The pousada has internet access.
