Conde, a town less than 15 miles from João Pessoa, capital of Paraíba, is an up-and-coming destination which has drawn a growing number of Brazilian and international tourists mainly thanks to Tambaba, one of Brazil's best nude beaches, affiliated with the International Naturist Federation.

The town has several other beautiful beaches, one of which, Carapibus, has many pousadas and one of the state's best resorts: Mussulo, opened in 2009.

Conde is still a good destination for budget travel in Brazil. On the other hand, the town is working on improving its charm accommodations. On Jan.12, 2012, the City of Conde administration announced the launch of a project titled Caminhos do Encanto ("Charm Paths") aimed at evaluating the town's pousadas, helping them explore their potential in order to better accommodate the growing touristic demand in the area, and ultimately creating a new tourism product.

The project, developed in a partnership with the local Tourism Association and the Model Architecture Office at nearby university Unipê (Centro Universitário de João Pessoa), under the supervision of Professor Ricardo Araújo, will analyze the environmental conditions, infrastructure, and administration of each pousada and suggest improvements in their aesthetics, accessibility and comforts. As of this writing, 11 pousadas affiliated with the Conde Coast Tourism Association have already been visited by the project's research team.

Tambaba has a few places to stay, including one pousada in the naturist area; read about them here. Below are places to stay on other Conde beaches. As usual in Brazil pousadas and hotels, breakfast is included in the rates. Ask each pousada about their optional tours, which might include snorkeling, surfing, horseback riding, kayaking, fishing and hiking.
