Gramado hotels help make this city in Rio Grande do Sul a favorite mountain destination in Brazil. Comfortable beds to snuggle in during the chilly nights of the Gaúcha range, perhaps great vistas and hydrangeas in bloom, timber frame architecture and colonial high tea are some of the typical delights you may come home to after a day of exploring the city and nearby hills.
Book a few months in advance for winter (July and the Gramado Film Festival. Christmas of Light is the city's other highest season - some people book their rooms at least one year in advance for Christmas week and New Year's Day. Also plan ahead for Brazilian Valentine's Day (Dia dos Namorados, June 12). Gramado is very romantic, and so are many of its hotels, which have honeymoon and romance packages.
The town of Canela, about four miles away from Gramado, also has great hotels and pousadas and some of the top attractions in the range, such as Cascata do Caracol, Parque da Cachoeira and Alpen Park.

Top Luxury Hotel
Saint Andrews
Opened in late 2010, the Saint Andrews is the fruit of the ten-month, $6-million-plus renovation of a family's home. Inspired in Scottish castles, the hotel is under the management of José Eduardo Guinle (from the Copacabana Palace founder's family). Transfers in a luxury car, butler services, Czech crystal chandeliers, lavishly decorated suites (just 11 of them) are some of the perks at this unique getaway.
Upper-End (Three-Star) Hotels
Casa da Montanha
The name means "mountain house". The atmosphere is that of a European lodge, but the hotel is in the center of Gramado. The La Caceria restaurant, a member of the Boa Lembrança Restaurant Association, specializes in game meat. The hotel's eco-chic counterpart in Cambará do Sul, Parador Casa da Montanha, is a member of the Roteiros de Charme Association. Wi-Fi available.
Estalagem St. Hubertus
A member of the Roteiros de Charme Association. Estalagem St. Hubertus overlooks the Black Lake (Lago Negro), one of Gramado's top attractions. The honeymoon package includes dinner at the Belle du Valais. The hotel has a sauna and a pool. Wi-Fi available.
Alpenhaus
The Alpenhaus is not exactly in the center of Gramado, but free transfers are available. The spa, the restaurant - serving a large breakfast that includes apfelstrudel and the largest covered pool in the Gaúcha range are some of the amenities in this hotel with 102 suites.

Hotel Alpestre
Located in the Planalto district, the hotel has free transfers to central Gramado. The whole hotel, with over 60 guest rooms and seven chalets, is centrally heated. This kid-friendly hotel has playgrounds and children's menus in the coffee shop. But there are also honeymoon packages. Amenities include two pools, a sauna and a sitting room with a fireplace.
Serrano Resort Convenções & SPA
The Vitalita Spa and the surrounding park are some of the reasons to stay at this large hotel and convention center with a food court in central Gramado. Of the 272 guest rooms, a few luxury suites are wheelchair-accessible. Wi-Fi available.
Kurotel
This leading destination spa in Brazil has great apartments, suites and chalets. Top Suites are furnished for business, with a meeting room and a communication center. In 2009. Kurotel won the Spa Finder Readers’ Choice Crystal Award for being named spa-goers’ favorite spa in South America. If you're a guest elsewhere, you can visit the Kur Water Station and Spa for the day.
Pousada La Hacienda
Peace and quiet about seven miles from Gramado. La Hacienda, a member of the Roteiros de Charme Association, has chalets with a fireplace and a hot tub.
Varanda das Bromélias
Located in the Planalto ("Plateau") neighborhood, the boutique hotel has romantic suites with canopy beds, fireplaces and balconies. They're decorated after themes, such as the four seasons.
Villa Bella Gramado
The Villa Bella has 87 guest rooms, of which eight are fully accessible. Some of the rooms have panoramic views of the Quilombo Valley. Amenities such as sauna, a heated pool, and a playground make the hotel just as great for families as it is for romantic travel.

Mid-Range Hotels
Hotel Águas Claras
With large guest rooms for families, accessible rooms on the ground floor and a central location, the Águas Claras is one of the best options in its price range. Top floor rooms are attic-style. There's a pool and a sauna.
Hotel Bavária
Located in the residential Bavária district, less than a mile from central Gramado, the hotel has 84 guest rooms. Amenities include mini golf and tennis courts across the street, some adventure activities and two heated pools (one for kids). Internet access.
Hotel Giardino di Pietra
The gardens, the cottage atmosphere and the wood paneling in the guest rooms evoke the mountains, but the hotel is in central Gramado. There are 16 guest rooms. The cozy luxury and super luxury rooms have honeymoon packages. The Il Piacere restaurant serves food made in a wood stove.
Hotel Laghetto
Located in the Planalto district, the hotel has bikes for rent. Amenities include a play room, two heated pools, and a game room. Some of the larger guest rooms have hot tubs. Wi-Fi available.
Hotel Pousada Kaster
Located in the beautiful Planalto district, the Kaster offers clean-cut décor and updated comforts like box spring beds. There's no pool, but the hotel has a game room. Wi-Fi available.
Hotel Pousada Le Chateau
Surrounded by pine trees, this small castle of a hotel opened in 2008. There are 31 apartments, two of which are fully accessible. The charming restaurant used to be the owner's daughter's art studio. Other amenities and services are hot pools and fireplaces in some of the rooms, a heated pool and a steam sauna.
