Gramado hotels help make this city in Rio Grande do Sul a favorite mountain destination in Brazil. Comfortable beds to snuggle in during the chilly nights of the Gaúcha range, perhaps great vistas and hydrangeas in bloom, timber frame architecture and colonial high tea are some of the typical delights you may come home to after a day of exploring the city and nearby hills.

Book a few months in advance for winter (July and the Gramado Film Festival. Christmas of Light is the city's other highest season - some people book their rooms at least one year in advance for Christmas week and New Year's Day. Also plan ahead for Brazilian Valentine's Day (Dia dos Namorados, June 12). Gramado is very romantic, and so are many of its hotels, which have honeymoon and romance packages.

The town of Canela, about four miles away from Gramado, also has great hotels and pousadas and some of the top attractions in the range, such as Cascata do Caracol, Parque da Cachoeira and Alpen Park.

Here are some of Gramado's best hotels in different categories. This list is a work in progress; check back for additions and updates.
