Baden Baden is almost synonymous with Campos do Jordão. The pricey beer bar occupies the ground floor of a timber frame shopping center in the touristic Vila Capivari district.

With a warming atmosphere and umbrella-covered tables which spread over the sidewalk, Baden Baden is a place you dress up for, knowing you'll be watched; it's also a haven for winter foods such as piping hot steaks and fancy burgers. The bar is always packed in the winter.

Baden Baden is also where you can sample the beer which comes from the namesake microbrewery located in another district of Campos do Jordão. The company handcrafts 11 kinds of beer.

Baden Baden Beer

Baden Baden's master brewer, Doemens graduate Otto Sigfried Dummer, currently responds for 11 kinds of beer, including the Red Ale with which it all started.

One of Baden Baden's signature traits is the limited special editions to go with three seasons - summer, winter and Christmas. They include Celebration Summer, an unfiltered Weiss, and the high alcohol content (14%) Tripel, recommended as a good match to gorgonzola and roquefort.

Baden Baden Stout (7.5% alcohol content), suggested for spicy dishes and chocolate desserts, is a winner of a European Beer Star 2008 gold medal.

The menu at Baden Baden suggests brew combinations for the bar's 50-plus entrées and over 30 appetizers.

Baden Baden Microbrewery
