Bar Brahma, a classic daytime and nightlife hangout opened in 1948, excels in Carnival celebrations. Read on to find out why the bar is one of the reasons paulistanos say "Yes, we have Carnival."Carnival Ball
The Carnival Ball at Bar Brahma has become one of the hottest tickets in São Paulo Carnival.
And what's interesting is, you don't need to buy a ticket in advance at all. For five nights, from Friday to Carnival Tuesday, show up at Bar Brahma and step right in. You'll only pay the cover charge, which includes the open bar and petiscos - appetizers and finger foods to go with your chopp, or draft beer - as well as the band playing marchinhas, samba, axé and pop, when you're ready to leave.
Dress up in costume and you'll get a 20% discount.
Bar Brahma Carnival Ball 2009
In 2009, the bar reinforced the nostalgic atmosphere of its Carnival, with a stronger focus on marchinhas than before. But there will still be samba and passistas (samba dancers) shaking it up to the sound of Banda Miami.
On Sunday, Monday and Tuesday, the Bar Brahma band will join in.

More Carnival with Bar Brahma
Besides the Carnival Ball, Bar Brahma also hosts a pre-Carnival cruise with Island Escape, departing from Santos in mid-February. In 2009, the three-night cruise with Sun & Sea departed on February 13 and featured shows headlined by Jair Rodrigues, Demônios da Garoa, Carolina Soares, and Naninha.
Meals included feijoada and, naturally, Brahma chopp.
For information about next year's cruise, contact Bar Brahma at 55-11-5182-3974.
Another cool option offered by the bar is Camarote Bar Brahma, the bar's mezzanine box which places you right on the São Paulo Sambódromo for the parade, with drinks and food included. See photos.
The bar also has a partnership with the Unidos de Vila Maria samba school. The Bar Brahma mezzanine box at the Vila Maria quadra (samba court), with an open bar and food included, is a top choice for samba school rehearsals in São Paulo.
Bar Brahma is also the starting point for the São Paulo Samba Circuit, a tour which will take you to the city's samba school rehearsals. Read more about it in this Carnival in São Paulo page by the city administration.
