New Year's Eve 2013 celebrations at Sofitel Rio de Janeiro Copacabana are quite spectacular - there are three parties to choose from, all with access to the Discothèque (11 p.m. to 4 a.m.), with Veuve Clicquot in the open bar and onion or lentil soup.
French chef Roland Villard is also preparing the Buffet Gourmet for those who would prefer to have a nice dinner and then ring in 2013 on the sands of Copacabana Beach. The buffet will be served from 7 p.m. to 11:30 p.m. (R$215 per person plus taxes).
Party at the Atlantis
A fine buffet and magnificent views of the fireworks and crowd on Copacabana Beach are highlights at the Atlantis restaurant by the hotel pools.
The party buffet will have hors d'oeuvres such as shrimp rillette, seafood (smoked salmon, tartare, heart-of-palm and mango salad with lobster medallions); cold dishes and terrines - for example, grilled foie gras with sour sweet sauce and caramelized apples.
Chef Villard has planned hot dishes such as Kobe beef with a balsamic vinegar bernaise and lamb carré. For dessert, there will be crème brûlée, raspberry tiramisu, and more.
The open bar will serve 12-year whiskey, red and white wine, Veuve Cliquot, beer, juice, sodas and mineral water.
The party price per person (R$1650 indoors, R$2200 veranda, plus taxes) includes reserved seating at shared tables, live music, and access to the Discothèque as well as the all-inclusive menu/open bar.
Dinner at Le Pré Catelan
Enjoy the view of Copacabana celebrations and fireworks almost at street level with supper at Le Pré Catelan (R$1250, indoor seating and R$1500 veranda seating per person, taxes not included) with dishes created specially for the occasion by chef Villard.
Amuse bouches, terrines and elaborate main dishes such as pirarucu with arracacha and caviar foam are on the menu.
Veuve Clicquot and 8-year whiskey will be served. For dessert, there will be a great variety of gourmandises.
Party at Horse's Neck
The party on the veranda of the Horse´s Neck Bar, overlooking Copacabana, has tickets at R$990 per person, taxes not included.
The menu will include mini dishes, sushi, sashimi, an oyster and seafood bar and several types of dessert. In the open bar, there will be 8-year whiskey, Veuve Clicquot, red and white wine, juice and soda.
The open bar will feature 8-year whisky, Roux Pére et Fils Bourgogne Chardonnay and Medóc Réserve Spéciale Domaines Barons de Rothschild, as well as Veuve Clicquot and 8-year whiskey.
