Traveling in Brazil is one of Patricia's passions. Born in Rio de Janeiro, she has been discovering her country's beauty, in ever wider concentric circles, since her family used to explore the fun possibilities of day outings and short trips around Rio.
Moving to São Paulo in her teen years got her started as a guide, when she would make up her own city tours and take friends along. She has traveled extensively around Brazil, stayed in youth hostels and upscale hotels, hiked in a rainforest, floated in a canoe over a submerged waterfall in the Amazon, and covered long stretches of the Brazilian coast.
She calls two places home: Carrollton, Texas, and Atibaia, near São Paulo, Brazil, where she owns a house.
Experience:
Patricia has worked as an English teacher, a writer, and an English-Portuguese translator. In the United States, she was a content developer for an online guide to the Dallas-Fort Worth area, writing mainly about events and dining.
Currently, she's translating books on politics for a Brazilian publisher.
Education:
Patricia has a B.A. in Journalism from the University of São Paulo, in Brazil. She has studied Spanish and French and taken several courses in Education and Writing.
She has a deep interest in Brazilian and North American native art and culture, which she has studied informally for about fifteen years.
From Patricia Ribeiro:
I have a deep love for my country and greatly enjoy traveling its vast expanses. There's always a new beach, nature preserve, historical city or hidden mountain village to explore. I am fortunate in that my only son shares my enthusiasm for Brazil and has turned into such an upbeat travel companion.
It's a great pleasure for me to help people find new angles to favorite places and discover destinations they might not have thought of before. Brazil is continuously rediscovering itself, and it's exciting to be part of that process.
