You don't need to wait for December 31 to get your party going for New Year's Eve 2013 in Rio. At the great Fundição Progresso, two of the best bands/Carnival blocos in town - Casuarina and Bangalafumenga (aka Banga) - are performing on Dec.30, with the Brazil party featuring DJs Djogo (Yellow Submarine) and Thiago Burgos (Barato Total) in the intervals.
If you've naver been to Fundição Progresso, this is a fantastic time to enjoy the vibe of this foundry turned into one of Rio's best venues. Casuarina, about to launch a new DVD (in early 2013), will play classic samba, hits from Carnival parades, marchinhas, and songs from the album Trilhos/Terra Firme (Superlativa/Warner Music).
Bangalafumenga will perform their own, hits such as "Barraco Dourado" (Rodrigo Maranhão) and "Homenagem aos batuqueiros" (Hamilton Fofão) as well as songs which fire up the crowds in their Carnival parades, such as "Fio Maravilha" (Jorge Ben Jor), "Manguetown" (Chico Science) and "Eu também quero beijar" (Pepeu Gomes).
