There's a fine new place for gourmet dinners in the Botafogo/Humaitá area, adjoining Rio de Janeiro districts with some great options for dining and nightlife. In February, it will also open for lunch.
Irajá, opened last month, serves contemporary food by chef Pedro de Artagão, who learned his trade through lots of hands-on training and work in Brazil and abroad.
The antessala, or lounge, great for appetizers and a drink, is a stop in itself. The dining room with a green wall has open kitchen seating.
The Caprese Salad (photo) is one of the chef's specialties.
