While the culinary world bounces back from chef Ferran Adrià's recent announcement at Madrid Fusión that he will take a two-year sabbatical from his restaurant el Bulli, you can enjoy some of his influences at Eñe Restaurante in São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro.
Research and techiques developed by Eñe chefs, twin brothers Javier and Sergio Torres, are reminiscent of Adrià's imprint on nueva cocina española. But the Torres brothers are writing a story of their own through Catalan cuisine with Brazilian touches.
Débora Birn, guest About.com Guide to Brazil Travel reporter in Rio, had lunch at Eñe Rio de Janeiro, opened in July 2009, and was delighted by the tasting menu and the ambience. Read her review and see photos of the restaurant and its meticulously presented food.
Eñe Rio de Janeiro was a finalist in Brazil's Best of Architecture 2009 in the Restaurants category (won by Kaá in São Paulo). As Débora Birn points out in her review, one of Eñe's assets is its integration with the landscape: the restaurant is practically on the sands of São Conrado.
